Amy Hammond is an Associate Attorney at Manasserian Law, APC, with more than a decade of experience in civil litigation. She has practiced litigation in the areas of large commercial property loss, complex cases, and mass torts. Having regularly secured favorable outcomes for her clients, including numerous multi-million dollar settlements, Amy is known for her zealous advocacy, professionalism, and strategic acumen.
Prior to joining Manasserian Law, Amy also held key roles in the judiciary and education sectors. At the Judicial Council of California – the policy making branch of California’s judicial branch – she served as lead staff to the Judicial Branch Access, Ethics and Fairness Curriculum Committee. In this role, she collaborated with judicial officers to develop curriculum on the impact of cognitive biases on the judicial process and access to justice. She contributed significantly as a subject matter expert on judicial ethics, co-developing and delivering the Qualifying Ethics program required to be taken by all California state judicial officers.
Amy later established and clerked in the judicial chambers of then-newly appointed federal district judge, the Honorable Trina L. Thompson—the first African American woman to preside in the San Francisco Division of the U.S. District Court of Northern California.
In addition to her litigation and judicial work, Amy’s contributions to academia include lecturing on topics of legal writing and research, judicial ethics, and restorative justice issues such as the South Korean Truth and Reconciliation Commission. She served as faculty in the Pre-Law Certificate Program for San Francisco State University, teaching Legal Research and Writing for Public Law.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s College of California, Amy earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. During law school, Amy was a member of the Moot Court Honors Board where she competed in the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s Thomas Tang National Moot Court Competition and the Niagara International Moot Court Competition.
Amy is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California.
Amy maintains active membership in the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area. She also helps coach the San Francisco State University Moot Court Team and is a legal volunteer for Adoptees for Justice which offers immigration-related services to intercountry adoptees without citizenship. Outside of her legal career, Amy enjoys movies, travel, museums, concerts, gardening, and spending time with her spouse, two dogs, and tortoise.
